THIS Space is back for 2023

THIS Space, our annual online conference, is back for 2023.

Taking place entirely online on 29 and 30 November, THIS Space will bring together people from across healthcare to share learning on what works in healthcare improvement, what doesn’t, and why.

We will be joined by 38 speakers and will be discussing a variety of topics including:

  • The role healthcare improvement research has played to date and where it will add value in the future.
  • What the evidence tells us about the role of human factors and ergonomics in healthcare improvement, and why the approaches haven’t been widely adopted.
  • How do we communicate an uncertain diagnosis and how is healthcare improvement research changing the approach?
  • To what extent do healthcare decision-makers use research evidence and what influences how they engage?

One of the many important topics packed into THIS Space 2023 will be a panel discussion on inclusive research practice. It will explore the characteristics of inclusive practice, and how different methods can support the inclusion of seldom heard people.

“I see a lot of ‘faux inclusion’ – “find me someone who has x protected characteristic”. But it can do great harm to those underserved if they are approached in this way. Inclusion is the being, the ‘feels’, not the ‘doing’ to tick a box.”

Lynn Laidlaw, Patient and Public Contributor and Patient Researcher
